I used to live in Northenden as a child and attended St Wilfrid's cofe school, I remember the harvest festival times in the church and the huge stained glass windows, I used to collect conkers from the church grounds which I loved to do, my Father's funeral service was held at St Wilfrid's as was his parent's, my father was Terence his parent's Samuel and Hannah, I have fond memories of the church as it is a part of my childhood of which I am proud to say! I am also happy to hear that Greg Forster is still Rev, hope you are well. St Wilfrid's is a beautiful church and a place which I will always hold dear to my heart.

A lovely, informative site. My Siddall ancestors are in your parish registers back to the 1570s and lots of family members married there. You have done a wonderful job with the site, and a special thank you for the list of Rectors.

What a wonderful website! My mother, Sandra Latham, is one of your church wardens and told me about the site. I visit the church whenever I come over from Calgary for a holiday. I hope to visit again in 2010! Keep up the good work and best wishes from Canada.

Visited your church on Saturday and i felt compelled to leave a message to say how beautiful your church is. St Wilfrid's was the local parish to some of my 'Leigh' ancestors who were buried here in the 1700's. We enjoyed our visit and will be back again soon.

Kind regards

Congratulations on your excellent website. It was quite a trip of nostalgia for me.
I was babtised in St Wilfrid's church in 1935, I attended the Church School during the war years and became a bell ringer at st Wilfrid's from about 1951. We left Northenden shortly afterwards and after a very interesting life, have now settled down to retirement in Staffordshire.
